"Making History"
Founded in 2002, Space Exploration Technologies Corp. – known popularly as SpaceX – began with a simple question: could a private company build affordable, reusable rockets and make space more accessible? From a turbulent start, SpaceX developed the Falcon 1, the first privately developed liquid-fuel rocket to reach orbit in 2008. This milestone earned SpaceX a $1.6 billion NASA contract to deliver cargo to the International Space Station (ISS), a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) that marked a new era in commercial spaceflight and space exploration.
Since its inception, SpaceX’s innovations have reshaped aerospace engineering and digital infrastructure. In 2015 SpaceX landed the Falcon 9, a reusable, two-stage rocket – a world-first for orbital-class rockets. This development enabled SpaceX to reuse parts of the rocket, significantly reduced launch costs and improved the frequency of missions. In 2020, SpaceX’s Dragon capsule carried NASA astronauts to the Interational Space Station, marking the first time a private company launched humans into orbit. But what has truly captured popular imagination is SpaceX’s desire to make humanity a multiplanetary species. Designed for interplanetary travel, Starship represents SpaceX’s ambition to colonise Mars.
"High-Speed Internet Around the World"
Beyond rockets, SpaceX’s most profound impact is through Starlink, its satellite internet constellation. As of mid-2025, Starlink has the largest satellite network in history, with over 7,500 satellites deployed across the globe. It provides high-speed internet to remote and underserved regions, from rural Africa to disaster and warzones, bridging the digital divide and boosting digital connectivity with affordable and reliable access to the internet. With satellites in low Earth orbit, Starlink offers latency comparable to fibre optics, enabling real-time applications like telemedicine, online education, and remote work.
Why We Invest
We invest in SpaceX because it represents the nexus of technology, connectivity and the spirit of innovation and exploration. SpaceX is more than a rocket company—it’s a catalyst for digital transformation. Its dual role as a space pioneer and digital enabler merges aerospace engineering with cutting-edge digital technologies. In doing so, SpaceX redefines what’s possible for connectivity, autonomy, and planetary exploration.
