Ripple’s journey began in 2004 as a decentralised monetary system aimed at empowering its users to create their own financial networks. Later reimagined as Ripple Labs in 2012, the company’s new mission was to build a blockchain-based system for real-time gross settlement, currency exchange, and remittances. Ripple’s native digital currency XRP, was launched to facilitate liquidity and instant cross-border transactions. Unlike other digital currencies, XRP is designed for speed and scalability, making it particularly appealing for enterprises. 

Global Growth

Ripple has grown into a global company with 15 offices worldwide, including hubs in London, Singapore, and São Paulo. It operates in over 90 countries, partnering with traditional finance institutions, fintechs, and governments to modernise payment infrastructure. Its flagship network, RippleNet, connects financial institutions via a unified platform that supports messaging, clearing, and settlement. RippleNet’s adoption has surged, partnering with institutions including Santander, SBI Holdings, and Bank of America.  Additionally, Ripple offers Ripple Swell, an annual conference whose 2025 edition is set to take place from 4 to 5 November in New York City. Ripple Swell invites leaders in finance, blockchain and digital asset management to discuss and map out the future of the industry.

Achievements and Recognition

Over the years, Ripple has celebrated milestones, achievements and accolades. In 2023, the company scored a partial victory in its legal battle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, with a federal judge ruling that XRP sales on public exchanges did not qualify as securities offerings. Ripple won the Best Initiative with Digital Currencies or Assets at the 2025 PAY360 Awards. At the 2024 FinTech Breakthrough Awards Ripple won Best Cross-Border Payment platform and Best DeFi Infrastructure platform.
